BirdTunes Lite provides bird enthusiasts with rapid, uncluttered access to the songs and calls of 24 common birds of North America.

The BirdTunes Lite sound collection offers:

• Emphasis on the sound repertoire of each species—including not just the primary song or call for many species, but also lesser-known songs and calls.

• Recordings drawn from the collections of prominent field recordists including Lang Elliott, Kevin Colver, Martyn Stewart, Bob McGuire, Ted Mack, and Wil Hershberger.

The BirdTunes Lite application also offers:

• An attractive waveform display that shows progress as the current track plays.

• Four playback modes, including modes for playing or repeating either a single track or all of the tracks for a species.

• A gorgeous photo of each species, from the collections of well-known bird photographers including Brian Small, Lang Elliott, Mike Danzenbaker, and Marie Read.

• A search facility that lets you rapidly find a species by any part or parts of its name.

• A customizable list of favorite species for quick access.

• A list of the twenty most recently accessed species.

If you use BirdTunes Lite in the field, please do so responsibly. We recommend the American Birding Association’s Code of Ethics (http://www.aba.org/about/ethics.html), particularly section 1(b), for guidance.

BirdTunes Lite was created by Harold Mills and Lang Elliott.

Pros and cons of BirdTunes Lite app for iPhone and iPad

BirdTunes Lite app good for

This app is the best app that Ive ever downloaded. I love listening to birds. Such an amazing variety!
Really awsome app it does call birds and actually will attract them to where you are

Some bad moments

I know there are only 24 birds on here, but they are some of the most common (for my area anyway - SE US). And there are multiple songs of each bird in an accessible and attractive format.
Gave the lite version a try first before buying the full version for 9.99. As I was listening to the sample calls/songs I realized that these are the same as that on the Audubon guide. The same song, time, order, name. Now in not sure if these are public domain tracks but if you ate going to spend 9.99 for the songs why not buy the Audubon guide with more songs and a complete guide. Just my 2 cents. The disappointment came from thinking I was getting variations of songs/calls of birds not exact tracks from other guides.
